IXCHIQ® DOSING & RECONSTITUTION

IXCHIQ® IS A CONVENIENT SINGLE-DOSE, LIVE-ATTENUATED VACCINE1

Administer the single dose as an intramuscular injection (0.5 mL after reconstitution), at least 4 weeks before patient departure.1

STORAGE AND HANDLING
Store vial with lyophilized powder and diluent in a refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C (35°F to 46°F). Store in the original carton to protect from light. DO NOT FREEZE.
Do not use the vaccine after the expiration date shown on the vial label.1

Reconstitute the live-attenuated vaccine only by adding the accompanying sterile water diluent into the vial containing the lyophilized IXCHIQ® powder.1

A needle (22–25G) with appropriate length of preferably at least 40mm (1 1/2") should be used for reconstitution of the vaccine.1

Inspect parenteral drug products visually for particulate matter and discoloration prior to administration and do not administer if either of the above conditions exists.1
After reconstitution, immediately administer IXCHIQ® intramuscularly into the deltoid muscle.
Discard reconstituted vaccine, if not used within 30 minutes.1

CONSIDER VACCINATION
  • Reconstitute IXCHIQ® only with the accompanying sterile water diluent.1
  • Slowly transfer the entire content of the pre-filled syringe of diluent into the vial containing lyophilized IXCHIQ® powder.1
  • IXCHIQ® when reconstituted, is a clear, colourless to slightly yellowish liquid solution.1

STEP 1

  • Remove the cap from the syringe of sterile water diluent.
  • Attach a needle to the Luer lock of the syringe.

STEP 2

  • Cleanse the stopper of the vial of lyophilized IXCHIQ® powder.
  • Slowly transfer the entire content of the pre-filled syringe of diluent into the vial containing lyophilized IXCHIQ® powder.

STEP 3

  • Gently swirl the vial to dissolve the lyophilized IXCHIQ®. TIP: Avoid strong shaking or inverting of the vial.
  • Wait for at least one minute for complete reconstitution of the vaccine.

STEP 4

  • After reconstitution, slightly tilt the vial to withdraw the entire contents of the reconstituted IXCHIQ® into the same syringe. Avoid inverting the vial.

IMPORTANT TO NOTE

  • A 22–25G needle with appropriate length of preferably at least 40mm (1 1/2″) is recommended.
  • Changing needles between withdrawing the vaccine from the vial and injecting it into a recipient is not necessary unless the needle has been damaged or contaminated.
  • If not used immediately, store the reconstituted vaccine at room temperature and administer within 30 minutes.
  • Any unused product or waste material should be disposed in accordance with local requirements.
