review\/meta-analysis show that <strong>43% of chikungunya patients did not recover after 3 months (n=6532).<\/strong>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-badffb9 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"badffb9\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<strong>Chronic disease is characterized by joint pain, which can be debilitating and last for months to years.<\/strong><sup>3,4,21,22<\/sup> \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-421c712 e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"421c712\" data-element_type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-18880b3 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"18880b3\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tAlthough studies report varying rates of long-term symptoms, all highlight the physical and potentially chronic burden of chikungunya in some patients:\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-cf573c2 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"cf573c2\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul class=\"para\">\n \t<li>In one report, 173 individuals were identified with chikungunya virus, of whom <strong>78.6% reported persisting musculoskeletal symptoms after 2 years<\/strong><sup>4,22,23<\/sup><\/li>\n \t<li>Further data showed that up to <strong>72% of patients<\/strong> with early significant improvement may relapse, the interval lasting from 1 week to <strong>several years<\/strong>, presenting with variable symptoms and affecting the same joints that had previously been affected.<sup>22<\/sup>\n<ul style=\"padding-top: 10px;\">\n \t<li>Chronic joint symptoms may include oligo- or polyarthralgia of variable intensity, usually symmetric, mainly in wrists, hands, ankles and knees, and are associated with morning stiffness and joint swelling.<sup>22<\/sup><\/li> \n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3b7859e e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"3b7859e\" data-element_type=\"container\">\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ae0e554 e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"ae0e554\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-settings=\"{&quot;background_background&quot;:&quot;classic&quot;}\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element virus infection resemble those observed in patients with rheumatoid arthritis<\/b> or other chronic inflammatory joint diseases.<sup>22<\/sup><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5fc499f e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"5fc499f\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-settings=\"{&quot;background_background&quot;:&quot;classic&quot;}\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e6910fb elementor-widget class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">SEVERE JOINT PAIN FROM THE CHIKUNGUNYA VIRUS CAN LAST FOR MONTHS OR YEARS FOLLOWING INFECTION.<sup>3,4,21<\/sup><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8090cf6 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"8090cf6\" data-element_type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8d3ef54 e-con-full
